Aptoryn Discover is a research preview. Here's what we collect, why, and how to get it deleted.

Last updated 29 October 2026.

The short version. What you write is saved as a draft in your own browser, so you don't lose your place, until you clear it. When you ask for results, your answers are sent to Claude (Anthropic's AI) to produce them. Aptoryn's servers keep your ratings, the suggested role titles, a few multiple-choice answers and any comment you choose to leave, tied to a random ID rather than your name. They don't keep your written answers, résumé or pasted job postings.

What this study is

We're comparing several ways of asking about your work, to learn which ones people finish and find useful. Each visitor sees one version at random. Your ratings tell us whether a suggestion seemed relevant to you. They don't prove you'd excel in that role: that takes real work samples and outcomes, which come in later research. Taking part is voluntary, you must be 18 or older, and you can stop at any time.

1. What stays on your device

Saved in your browser's local storage on this device only, until you clear it:

Anyone using this browser on this device could see these. Use the button above, or clear this site's data in your browser settings, to remove them. Leave out names, contact details and anything private when you write.

2. What goes to Claude

When you click to see your results or compare a job, your answers (and any job posting you pasted) are sent through our server to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, via Anthropic's commercial API. Anthropic processes them under its commercial terms, which don't allow training its models on this data by default. Anthropic may keep API data for a limited time under its own retention policy.

3. What Aptoryn keeps

Kept on our serversNot kept on our servers
Your random participant ID and which version you sawYour written answers, stories or résumé
When you viewed the page, started and finishedJob postings or company text you paste
Your starting job title and years of experienceYour name, email or phone number (we don't ask for them)
Choices from fixed lists (pace, people, structure, values), and whether you filled in the "what slows you down" box (not what you wrote)Advertising or tracking cookies (there are none)
The suggested role titles, your ratings of them, and your answers to the closing questions
Any comment you choose to type in the optional feedback box. This is the only free text we keep, so leave out anything private.
A scrambled (hashed) version of your network address, kept for up to a day to stop abuse

Our data is stored with Supabase (database). The site runs on Vercel (hosting), which keeps standard request logs, such as network address and time, under its own retention policy. Our own server logs record only error codes and the size of AI replies, never their content.

Role suggestions draw on occupational descriptions from O*NET (onetcenter.org), used under the CC BY 4.0 license.

What the results are, and aren't

Results are starting points for exploring your career, generated by AI from what you write. They're suggestions worth exploring and testing, not a test score, a hiring assessment or a judgment of what you can or can't do, and they're never shared with employers.

How long we keep it, and how to delete it

We keep study data on our servers for up to 24 months after the study ends, then delete it. To have it deleted sooner, email us with your participant ID and we'll delete everything linked to it. To remove what's saved on your device, use the clear button above.
